π STOP THE BLEED Training π This week, members of the Sound Beach Fire Department attended a Stop the Bleed course sponsored by Stony Brook University Hospital. Severe bleeding from traumatic injuries is a leading cause of preventable death β accounting for 40% of trauma-related fatalities and 35% of pre-hospital deaths. Our community came out last night to learn about fire safety and how to prevent hazards around their homes. Everyone got to see a live demonstration of a room on fire β showing just how important it is to keep bedroom doors closed to help stop the spread of fire and smoke.

Rope Rescue Training

Early Sunday morning, a few of our members sharpened their rope rescue skills with a simulated scenario β an injured person who had fallen down a cliff. One of our firefighters descended on rope, triaged the patient, and safely brought them back up to safety.
