🚑 STOP THE BLEED Training 🚑 This week, members of the Sound Beach Fire Department attended a Stop the Bleed course sponsored by Stony Brook University Hospital. Severe bleeding from traumatic injuries is a leading cause of preventable death — accounting for 40% of trauma-related fatalities and 35% of pre-hospital deaths. Our members trained in lifesaving skills including: ➡️ Applying direct pressure ➡️ Wound packing ➡️ Proper tourniquet application We remain committed to ongoing education so we can better serve our community when emergencies happen.
