ONE YEAR AGO On Monday August 19th 2024 our members were awoken at approximately 1:00 a.m. for what would be a busy morning for many in Sound Beach. A severe rainstorm deposited almost 10 inches of rain between midnight and 6:00 a.m. resulting in numerous impassable roads, flooded homes and stranded vehicles. Our volunteers worked throughout the day pumping flood waters and mitigating hazards throughout the community including flooding at our own firehouse. Our inflatable boat was even requested by the Rocky Point Fire Department N.Y. to assist with a water rescue on Hagerman Landing Rd. that would later earn those responding members a proclamation from the Brookhaven Town Board. As we look back we thank those members for their hard work and their continued service to the Sound Beach community.
