The Sound Beach Fire Department wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Independence Day weekend. With dangerously hot temperatures expected, please take a few extra precautions to protect yourself, your family, and your neighbors.
๐ฅ Heat Safety Tips:
๐ง Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
๐ณ Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (11 AMโ5 PM).
๐งข Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
๐ Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicleโeven for a minute.
๐ต Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone without air conditioning.
๐ 4th of July Safety:
๐ Leave fireworks to the professionals. Consumer fireworks can cause serious injuries and fires.
๐ฅ Keep grills away from homes, decks, and anything that can burn.
๐ Have a bucket of water or a hose nearby when using grills or legal fireworks.
๐ Never allow children to handle fireworks, including sparklers.
๐ If you see smoke or fire, call 911 immediately.
