| Around 12:45 PM on Thursday, our department responded to a mutual aid structure fire in Rocky Point. First-arriving units from Rocky Point found a well-involved house fire upon arrival. Sound Beach members quickly went to work, stretching a handline alongside crews already operating on scene and assisting in bringing the fire under control. Multiple neighboring departments also responded, working together in a coordinated effort to contain and extinguish the blaze. Extreme heat and hazardous conditions throughout the home and surrounding property made this a challenging operation for all crews involved. Thanks to the teamwork and dedication of everyone on scene, the fire was successfully extinguished. Sound Beach units returned to service shortly before 5:00 PM. Situations like this highlight the importance of trained, committed volunteers. If you can see yourself making a difference when it matters most, we encourage you to join us.
