Wall Breach Training

On Wednesday November 17, 2004 the Sound Beach Fire Department held a wall breaching training at the Firehouse.  The purpose of this training was to practice breaching a wall and having a firefighter maneuver through the wall with full protective clothing as well as an S.C.B.A.  There were 2 scenarios’ that were practiced.  One entailed a sheetrock wall with studs that is commonly found in residential construction the second consisted of a maze like of wires in which the firefighter had to crawl under them to get thru.  This is to train the firefighter in case of having to maneuver through wires that may commonly be found in a wall after breaching.  The materials used were purchased by the Fire district and the props were assembled by 2nd Asst. Chief John Strahm, Firefighter Jim Maire and Firefighter Joe LoConte.
