Motor Vehicle accident 3/27/05

At 0053 on 11/11/06 the department was activated for a reported structure fire.  First chief on the road was 30 and he was advised that the kids had run next door to the neighbors house to call the fire department that their house was on fire. While still enroute, Firecom advised 30 that they were receiving numerous phone calls and that the kids were advising that the parents were still in the house. 30 requested Mt. Sinai to be activated prior to arrival for their RIT team to respond.

Units 30 and 32 arrived at 0056 to find heavy fire self venting out the Exposure 1 and 2 windows. Rocky Point was requested for one engine to the scene.  Prior to the arrival of the fire department all occupants did get out and that information was confirmed by 30 with PD. Engine 1 responded and dropped a dry 3” line at the corner of North Country Rd. for Engine 9 to pick up and continue the hose lay to the hydrant at the corner of Halesite Dr and North Country Rd. Engine 1’s crew stretched 2 1 ¾” lines to the front door and started the push in. Engine 9 advised when they got on the road that they were light and no other personal were at the firehouse. Miller Place was then requested for one engine to the scene and Terryville for one engine to standby at quarters.

Engine 9’s crew took care of hooking up the supply line and completed outside venting that needed to be done. Rescue 4 arrived on scene and their crew went to work doing a primary search of the building to confirm that no other occupants were still in the house. All searches proved negative and the main body of fire was contained to the room of origin with extensive smoke and heat damage done through out the building.

Rocky Point upon arrival went to the roof and cut a vent hole over the fire room. After they completed that they were assigned with Miller Place to replace our members who were going to rehab.

Fire was put under control at 0148 hours and extensive overhaul had to be done due to the contents in the room. 7 transported 1 patient to Mather Hospital suffering a possible anxiety attack. All units cleared from the alarm at 0451 hours.
