On Tuesday February 28^th, 2006,  the department was activated for a motor vehicle accident with heavy rescue at the corner of Rt. 25A and Hunter Avenue.  Upon arrival of responding units from both the Sound Beach FD and Rocky Point FD it was found that a large box truck had crashed into the front of a commercial business causing the driver to become entrapped.  After the combined efforts of the Sound Beach FD, Rocky Point FD, and Suffolk County Police ESU the driver was extricated in approximately 40 minutes.  He was the transported to Stony Brook Hospital via Suffolk County PD aviation.  Two other patients were transported via ground to area hospitals.
