SBFD team takes 4th place.

40 Long Island teams competed!

Four teams from the Sound Beach Fire Department competed in the annual Long Island Jaws of Life Tournament or JOLT competition on Sept. 24th.  Team 2 from Sound Beach won fourth place.

The competition simulates the extrication of a patient involved in a motor vehicle accident. There are required maneuvers that you must complete in a certain order. You are timed against another team that operates on the opposite side of the car once you have completed your evolution. Our three teams have practiced every Monday since May for this tournament.

Team 1 consisted of, Phil Alaimo, John Curtin, Marc Francois, Jim Hart, and Mike Rosasco

Team 2 consisted of John Drews, George Goodleaf, Joe Luise, Leon Sayler and Keith Williams.  Team 2 advanced to the final round and won fourth place. 

Team 3 members were Darryl Blasberg, Joe LoConte, Jim Maire, Thomas Sternberg and John Strahm.

Team 4 members were Carmine Caccavale, Andy Itterly, Tom LoConte,  John Marino and Brian McGrath.
