Three teams from the Sound Beach Fire Department competed in the annual Long Island Jaws of Life Tournament or JOLT competition on Sept. 20th, 2003.

 The competition simulates the extrication of a patient involved in a motor vehicle accident. There are required maneuvers that you must complete in a certain order. You are timed against another team that operates on the opposite side of the car once you have completed your evolution. Our three teams have practiced every Monday since May for this tournament.

Team 1 members, Phil Alaimo, John Curtin, Marc Francois, Jim Hart, Mike Rosasco and Larz Schwartz advanced to the semi final round of the tournament.

Team 2 members, Sebastian D'Agati, John Drews, George Goodleaf, John Marino, Leon Sayler, and Keith Williams advanced to the final round.   

Team 3 members, Darryl Blasberg, Andy Itterly, Joe LoConte, Jim Maire, Brian McGrath, and Tom Sternberg advanced to the quarter final round of the tournament.

Team 2 finished second overall in the competition. Congratulations to SBFD JOLT TEAM
