On Friday November 21, 2003 at 3:08 pm the Sound Beach Fire Department was activated for a signal 13 (Structure Fire). Upon arrival a smoke condition was found in the house. Upon further investigation it was discovered that there was a fire in the crawl space off the basement. Due to the time of day and limited manpower the Rocky Point Fire Department responded with an engine as well as Miller Place Fire Department with an engine and ambulance to standby at our firehouse. Due to the fact that a working fire was transmitted the Mt. Sinai Fire Department responded with a R.I.T. (Rapid Intervention Team). The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.
